One of the objectives of MONDRA (A Social Welfare Society) is
to collaborate and work in partnership with like-minded people
both from national and international organizations. Out of its
seventeen objectives few of these objectives have been
initiated such as helping the orphans and sponsoring their
education partly of fully. The Society has also signed an MoU
in collaboration for two projects, namely Impulse Social
Enterprises Model and work for the prevention of human
trafficking as its state partner in the state of Tripura.
Impulse being a nodal agency we have received reliefs from the
organization like sanitary pads and dry ration. Mondra has
distributed sanitary pads amongst adolescents and dry ration
to Sulabh Staff, security personnels of Tripura University and
their families.
The MONDRA team believe that the greatest strength that lies
in the land whether it is a Jute land or Khas land, but ‘The
Land’. Getting involved with the community in proper
utilization of these land through the practice and
preservation of ‘Environment and Permaculture System’
maintaining the ecological balance, getting ourselves involved
into the platform is what makes the difference today. MONDRA
strife for ‘self-reliant’ and adopted the ‘Revenue Model’
through the proper utilization of land and environment for its
‘Sustainable Development’. The principles of three Ps:
1.
Practice: MODDRA practice its philosophy of ‘Permaculture
System’ and its ‘Revenue Model’
2.
Promote: The Society promote the philosophy of ‘Permaculture
System’ and its ‘Revenue Model’ by conducting Awareness
Programs- Workshops and Seminars, providing training to the
farmers and offering Internship Programs.
3.
Preserve: The Society preserve the Natural Environment and the
practice of ‘Permaculture System’ and ‘Indigenous’ approach to
environment and culture.
THE GREEN WORLD INITIATIVE
The Green World Initiative is another term for ‘Nature’s
Management’. The kind of plantation that we do is nothing new
but is about preserving nature as it is. Wherever there are
spaces available we mostly plant fruit bearing trees and
plants. Many of the plants have various utilities, from
functional to aesthetic including the medicinal and caries
great economic value. Balancing the ecosystem, balancing the
nature, working with the nature, what we call- Nature's
management that Dr. Sunil Kalai has largely adopted and
learned from Her Highness Rajmata Bibu Kumari Devi. The bamboo
that we see is not simply a bamboo, it is considered, ‘god’ by
the indigenous community who worship the nature and it plays
an important role in their everyday life. The same bamboo
provides food as bamboo shoots, it can be made into furniture,
can be utilized for building of homes and for firewood. We see
the future in ‘Nature Economics’, like our forefathers did. We
at Mondra do not believe in planting a single species of
plants. These plants can yield higher income as compared to
the investment. Economy is also about visualizing the future
and proper understanding of these concept on ‘Nature’,
‘Nurture’ and ‘Culture’. The main objective is to make use of
the available resources within the community. It is about co
existing with nature and living in harmony with ‘Mother
Earth’.
